Hello and welcome to my blog.

My name is Manuel Maqueda. With my two hands and my humble voice I try to be a tiny pebble in the cogs of a demented socio-economic machinery which has outrun our planet, and our society.

On the right-hand sidebar you’ll find a direct link to my articles in English, although the vast majority of what I write these days is in Spanish.

For two years I have been one of the voices behind PeriodismoCiudadano.com, the leading Website in Spanish language on participatory media. Many of the posts that you will find here were originally published for this outlet.

I love cycling and write regularly for several mountain biking magazines, where I have published hundreds of articles and photographs. These include Riders (of which I’m editor-in-chief), El Mundo de la Mountain Bike, Ciclismo en Ruta, Outdoor (Spanish edition), Dirt Rag (USA) and VTT (France). Some articles (mostly op-ed) that you’ll find here were originally published on paper on these outlets.

I lead and participate in several environmental projects. You can learn more about them by visiting my personal site in English at manuelmaqueda.com, where you will also find a complete bio and a summary of my personal philosophy.

In case you are wondering, bribón means rascal in Spanish, and don is a form of address that shows the highest respect. So the name of this blog could be translated as ‘Sir Rascal’.

Have fun poking around and don’t hesitate to post your comments, in English or Spanish. Thank you for visiting.

Manuel
